This course provides a foundational understanding of essential computer science concepts, focusing on modern technologies that shape today’s digital world.
The course naturally divides into four main units: Networking & Security, Practical Applications, Artificial Intelligence (Fundamentals), and AI (Applications & Ethics).
By the end of the course, students will be able to:
-
Describe the fundamental concepts of computer networks and security.
-
Apply basic troubleshooting techniques to solve common computing problems.
-
Explain the key principles of artificial intelligence and identify its applications.
Medical Terminology is a foundational course designed to introduce students to the language of medicine. It focuses on understanding the structure of medical terms through the study of prefixes, roots, and suffixes, as well as proper pronunciation, spelling, and interpretation of medical vocabulary.
The course emphasizes the application of medical terms in real-world contexts related to body systems, diseases, diagnostic procedures, and treatments.
By the end of the course, students will be able to read, interpret, and accurately use medical terminology in professional communication and documentation within healthcare settings.
Energy is an important part of most aspects of daily life. it exists in numerous forms such as thermal, mechanical, electric, chemical, and nuclear. Even mass can be considered a form of energy. Every science has a unique vocabulary associated with it. Thermodynamics can be defined as the science of energy where it study the relation between work, heat, temperature and energy on a system. The name thermodynamics stems from the Greek words therme (heat) and dynamis (power).
Optics is the branch of physics that deals with the study of light, its behavior, and its interactions with matter. It includes the study of visible light, as well as other forms of electromagnetic radiation like ultraviolet and infrared light. Optics explores how light is produced, transmitted, and detected, as well as phenomena such as reflection, refraction, diffraction, and polarization.
Analogue and Digital Electronics is a 6-credit unit course of eleven units. It is an introductory course which seeks to introduce the students to the basic concepts of analogue and digital electronics. It provides an introduction to the different types of transistors, the biasing arrangements and the configuration of the transistor amplifiers. It also covers the basic principles of feedback and operational amplifiers. The DC power supply is also covered together with voltage regulators heatsinks and finally the text provides an introduction to digital electronics by treating Boolean algebra, logic gates and Karnaugh maps.
Physiology is the branch of biology that studies the functions and processes of living organisms and their parts, including cells, tissues, and organs. It focuses on how these parts work together to maintain the normal functioning of the body. This includes understanding how systems like the circulatory, respiratory, nervous, and digestive systems operate, as well as how they interact to support life. Physiology examines both mechanical, physical, and biochemical processes that occur within living organisms, helping to explain how different bodily functions are regulated and maintained.
